Choose a downlight around the ceiling detail and the lighting task. Compare delivered light, distribution and visual comfort alongside the aperture and installation depth. The smallest fitting is not automatically the best choice. Confirm the exact driver, access for maintenance and the model drawing before the ceiling is finalized.

How to compare cut-out, ceiling depth, delivered lumens, optic, glare and control
Cut-out and ceiling depth
Measure the opening and the void above it before shortlisting. A model that fits the aperture but not the depth cannot be installed.
Delivered lumens
Compare the lumens leaving the fitting, not the raw LED figure, against the task and mounting height.
Optic and glare
Check beam distribution and shielding at normal viewing angles; a deeper recess usually reads as more comfortable.
Control
Confirm the driver and dimming protocol with the electrical contractor before the schedule is issued.
Maintenance access
Record how the driver is reached once the ceiling is closed.
